Second passenger shuttle accident occurs in California

California has shuttles that take both residents and tourists to casinos that are located nearby almost every day. Although these kinds of buses are usually safe, two were recently involved in motor vehicle accidents in September. In both cases, elderly passengers were injured. The most recent passenger shuttle accident injured eight victims, all of whom were said to be over the age of 60.

The accident occurred on Sept. 19 at around 9:30 a.m. when the bus driver was apparently unable to negotiate a curve properly and ended up driving off the road. After leaving the road, the bus crashed through a fence and stopped in the yard of a house adjacent to the road. The passenger shuttle accident did not involve any other vehicles, though it did result in injuries to more than half of the vehicle's passengers.

The company stated that this bus takes this route to the casino daily. Reportedly, this is the first accident that a company bus has had on that route, which has been used for eight years. Another bus was sent to the accident to transport the uninjured passengers. Injuries from the accident were initially reported to have ranged from a broken leg to unspecified minor injuries.

The passengers that were injured in the California passenger shuttle accident retain the right to seek reimbursement from the driver and the bus company for any monetary damages sustained. Compensation achieved through a successfully handled personal injury claim can often give the victims a sense of justice and also help pay for medical bills and related expenses. If the victims are ultimately awarded financial damages, it may allow them to focus on healing and not on bills that have accrued.
