Car accidents can be devastating. This is especially true if an accident involves pedestrians or other vulnerable road users like bicyclists or motorcyclists. A recent fatal car accident in California proved doubly devastating as it involved a car, motorcycle and a pedestrian. The accident claimed the life of a 24-year-old man.
Purportedly, the 24-year-old Temecula resident was crossing the street when he was hit by a compact car. The driver of the sedan stopped the car and opened his door. Witnesses say he was frantic as he stood by the pedestrian who was lying in the road.
Shortly thereafter, a motorcyclist who was approaching the accident scene apparently failed to see the obstructions in the road. The driver of the sedan frantically attempted to flag the motorcyclist down, but was unsuccessful. The motorcyclist struck the open door of the sedan.
A witness reported that the motorcycle went airborne. The motorcyclist appeared injured but was able to move to the sidewalk under his own power. Emergency responders were on scene within minutes and attempted to render aid to the injured pedestrian.
The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital, but passed away shortly after his arrival. The motorcyclist was also transported away from the scene by ambulance. The driver of the sedan appeared to be uninjured.
This fatal car accident is still under investigation by California authorities, but pending the outcome it is possible that the victims and their families could be entitled to compensation. In cases like this, monetary compensation is often used to cover medical costs or funeral bills. In the wake of a tragic accident, it's often difficult for families to deal with the emotional turmoil of pain and loss. The right legal advocate can make the process much easier to bear.
